Stamp - Comics by AzraelleWormser Stamp - Comics by AzraelleWormser
Okay okay okay. So y'all love the stamp. I should be thankful for that at least.

It just feels weird that most things in my gallery have taken over 10 hours and lots of blood sweat and tears to produce, and this .... THING took 5 minutes to tack together and toss out, mostly as an afterthought. And it's by far the most popular item I've ever created.

I feel like an author who's written dozens of novellas, yet it is one trivial limerick, scribbled on the back of a soiled cocktail napkin, that everyone loves.

I just wish there was a way to turn off +fav notifications for individual items, because this is all I see anyone +faving anymore.

I feel ya with the disparity between effort put in and appreciation different pieces get. It's similar to how fanart always gets more love than your own OC's, even if they usually take a lot more time, thought and effort...>.<

I guess this stamp is something lots of people can relate to and use to promote their own opinions? Also something they will be more likely to search for? I don't know. Public taste is a fickle thing.
For what it's worth, cool stamp, and I took at look at your gallery- there's some sweet work there. You're really good with shading/lighting and female anatomy. That stuff will get more notice eventually. Keep it up :D
Also- congrats on the DD!

Yes I know your feel. My Purple Kitty Animation is used so many times, but no one is interested in my hard work... Once I screamed into the microfone via MSN and the other person put it into the internet; it was the most popular MSN sound for half a year... -.-

This is a great message, and a lot of people agree with you. I looked at your gallery. It is very much of a niche. Not everyone likes anthro or furries (sorry if my terminology isn't the best). But a LOT of people like comics.

I hope you don't still think this way. You're a fine artist. I hope people look at the rest of your art.

"Comics are an art form!"... they are, indeed. It's a kind of demanding art form, actually.

And yes - people faving this, because there is wisdom in these words.

And it's still your art (message!), created by you, and most faved to that. Don't belittle yourself because of that.

conceptual art anyone?
FJolliff Featured By Owner Jul 1, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
It is still a great piece of art, no matter how long it takes. Like when a child gives their parent their first painting and the parent thinks that it is the child's best work even after that child has become a famous artist to rival DaVincci. It isn't always the time that it takes to make it, it's how the viewer sees it.

This is something that I learned the hard way. I make things that take days, and people like the things that only took minutes... Its strange, but an artist must accept that is the way that the world is.

I like the statement and it can be hard to make a "comic" art piece that is still effective.

Congrats on the DD!

I don't get how people complain about things like this. At least you have something in your gallery with 10,00 faves and 500 comments.
AzraelleWormser Featured By Owner May 24, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Imagine if you were a comedian. You get up on stage and tell the best jokes you can possibly think of, and they get a few scattered chuckles and claps. Then you accidentally cut a fart, and the whole place erupts in laughter, and you get a mention in the paper for farting on stage.

Are you now a proud and successful comedian?

GSnail Featured By Owner May 25, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
No, but I got in the paper :)

I understand, really I do. It is probably disheartening to see all the attention going to a stamp, but to most artists, it sounds ridiculous.
AzraelleWormser Featured By Owner May 25, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I know. People often tell me I have a bad habit of pointing out the negative in everything.
varialome Featured By Owner Mar 21, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
arthur conan doyle felt the same about sherlock holmes ( he took pride in his history novels yet almost no one knows he wrote anything other than the sherlock holmes series )
HunterLaWolf Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Would you agree that this applies to comics that aren't hand-drawn? That is, comics made from character-customization/poser programs that are copy-pasted and dialogued into a story?
AzraelleWormser Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Technically yes. I'm not a fan of using someone else's models and sprites, but if the posing/lighting work is good quality, I can overlook it.

I've seen a lot of really amateur sprite comics/Poser comics in my day, where the artist didn't bother to put in little touches and left the poses stiff and unbelievable. Sure it's an art form, but that doesn't always mean it's good art.
HunterLaWolf Featured By Owner Feb 5, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
So, in my line of work, no one should complain if it looks very well done?

Guess I better step my game up.
AzraelleWormser Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I don't really speak for others, and people have the right to complain all they want. It's ultimately up to the artist to decide how much of it deserves attention.
HunterLaWolf Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
...I see what you mean. So it's up to me to decide what criticisms are really worth the time?
AzraelleWormser Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Decide which ones are worth the time.
Recognize which ones are the most true.
